Coffee originated in Ethiopia, where it became an integral part of the culture. Its purpose was to bring the community together- to discuss not only life's hardships, but also its celebrations.
My wife and I moved here from Ethiopia over 22 years ago, where we started our early careers in the hospitality industry. We have always had a passion for helping others and knew that our vision would one day follow this passion. We moved to the Gwinnett area together, where we fell in love with the community and its people. We were inspired by the idea of bringing our culture to it, where we could not only educate others about our country, but also bring a little bit of home with us. The result: Chibo Coffee!
We wanted to bring our community just that: a way to unify, celebrate, and enjoy life's little moments over good coffee and food. That's why we named our shop Chibo Coffee. Chibo means torch in Amharic, the main language of Ethiopia. It represents inclusiveness, excellence, freedom, opportunity, hope, and unity. We strive to deliver everything that Chibo symbolizes, from the way we brew our coffee, to the way we welcome every face we see.
